Lace Wedding Dresses

As long as we can remember, images of brides wearing white, adorned with delicate lace veils and trains have been displayed on magazines and billboards. Traditionally handcrafted, lace was not available to or accessible by all though. Because of its finer quality, it has been associated with wealth and high fashion. Queen Victoria brought it to the wedding scene in the mid-1800’s when she wore a one-of-a-kind lace wedding gown. Fast forward to present day, lace is easier to come by and can be seen in formalwear and casual attire.

Fortunately, the love of lace has lasted through the years in the bridal industry. As you’re shopping the Madame Bride formal wear store, notice the different types of lace - some are heavier, machine embroidered and some are dainty, delicate and handcrafted, like Chantilly lace. Some designs have fine lace laid on top of a net background, while other types of lace are not embroidered on netting, and instead designed to stand out on top of the fabrics beneath it. You’ll also see lace appliqués which are motifs applied to garments as a decorative embellishment; lace ribbons and tassels, and crocheted lace too.
