Weddings are stressful. Let’s be honest, every brides goes a bit crazy about her big day. But some brides just take it too far. And thanks to the social media we get to find out just how insane planning a wedding can go, when the bride’s cross the line. Here are the real life stories of the ultimate bridezillas in 2018.
Destination Wedding Drama
On September 13th, Reddit user so_long_and_thanks_ posted a screenshot of the bride’s angry message on the subreddit r/ChoosingBeggars. A very upset bride threatened to uninvite, and unfriend, her wedding guests on Facebook after they after they refused to fork out $3,000 for her destination wedding.
A bride-to-be posted her fuming rant on Facebook after many of her friends didn’t RSVP to her big day. She explained that she’d initially planned a destination wedding in Thailand, but had to change her plans after only nine out of 150 people replied to her invites. The bride then added that – in order to enable more of their friends to attend the wedding – she and her husband chose to change the location to Hawaii, which is closer to the US and therefore costs slightly less. Still, much to her surprise, reducing the cost of the trip by $1,000 was followed by the number of positive RSVPs go down by two people
This added fuel to the fire and the bride went on to say: “When we changed the wedding to be in Hawaii, so it’s within everyone’s reach, only 7 of your RSVPd???”

Further adding: “It costs less but less of you wanna come? Is that what you think of [my fiancé] and me? You can’t spare $2k to come share our happiness?”
She then gave her guests an ultimatum: “This is it guys, you have three days to respond to our evites or we’re deleting you off FB and good luck keeping up with our lives then.”
Before concluding the post, she added a sneering comment about the gifts that had been purchased from the registry: “And don’t get me started on the registry… Only the cheap stuff is gone, I swear I thought I had better friends. [My fiancé] and I are asking you to reconsider.”
The post quickly went viral, receiving a bunch of comment from people in disbelief. Some even wondered if the story is actually true, or a well-acted joke. However, the person who shared the status on Reddit has shared the bride’s update the very next day, which suggests people haven’t responded to well to the initial post”
“Now [my fiancé] is giving me a hard time over my earlier status. Can nobody understand where I’m coming from? Jeez all I wanted is to share my day with y’all, that’s not too much to ask. I hoped at least my ‘love’ would understand that.”
I think it is pretty safe to say that the whole big destination wedding is not happening.
Kardashian for a Day
You may have come across this story before, because it was literally everywhere. A Canadian bride to be wanted a lavish, extravagant $60000 wedding. What’s wrong with that? Well, she actually asked her guests to pay for it. She demanded that guests pay $1500 to attend the wedding, which they refused, unsurprisingly. This caused the future bride to go on Facebook and vent in a very lengthy and bizarre post, announcing that her wedding is cancelled four days before the event and blaming guests for not funding her Kardashian-style reception. We will give you a short summary, but you can read the whole post here, it’s well worth it.
The bride, named Susan, said she and her partner have saved about $15000 for their dream wedding, but later on have find out that the wedding in Aruba they have wanted cost more than $60000. So they asked each of their wedding guests to send $1500, or else they wouldn’t be invited.

Scaling back wasn’t an option. Apparently, she visited a local psychic who told her to throw an extravagant blow out wedding and also she thinks she has like, a God-given right to live like a Kardashian.
“I mean seriously people, what is $1,000? What is $1,500? Clearly, not a lot. It would be quite manageable and within budget. I’ve heard of people asking for worse,” she said.
“We also set up a GoFundMe. That only got us $250. At this point we were exhausted, tired. I yelled at my ex; I became unraveled. I realized my dream wedding was becoming a nightmare. Then it got worse.”
Hoping to find a solution and end the drama, her (now ex) fiancé suggested that they elope in Vegas to cut down the cost and use the money they saved for something more worthwhile. That did not go well with Susan. She went ballistic and apparently had a full-blown panic attack.
“My ex left the room and didn’t apologize for his horrid suggestion. I then called my maid of honor and cried my eyes out. Instead of sympathy, I was told that I was asking for way too much and I should stick to the budget.”
The bride to be wasn’t happy with this piece of advice: “I just wanted to be a Kardashian for a day and then live my life like normal. I called her a filthy f***ing poor excuse of a friend, and hung up.”

Eventually the maid of honor and all of the bridesmaids bailed out, which led to everything else crumbling, the couple breaking up and the wedding being called off. This woman claims that she and her ex plan to remain civil, but she’s also planning a two month backpack across South America, so we’ll see how that goes.
If you’re spending a lot of time stressing out about planning a wedding, you need to remember that ultimately, it is about you and your partner, and the wedding ceremony is only going to be one day. But hey, if the stress is something that gets the better of you, just remember – there is always someone crazier than you.
