Remember the simple and understated Meghan Markle’s wedding dress? Well, it’s time to forget about it! This season the designers have embraced bold styles, dramatic looks and intricately designed gowns that were as much art as bridal fashion. We have seen every show-stopping detail from the book: glitter, shimmering embroidery, 3D appliques, layers on layers on layers, puffy sleeves, long trains and sexy sheer dresses.

Trains, Capes and Overskirts

We love that many designers decided to incorporate ‘2 in 1’ looks into their collection. Simple sheaths and sassy short styles dresses up by elaborate overskirts are a perfect way to take one gown from ceremony to the reception. Bridal capes are another reoccurring trend, as a chic and stylish alternative to veil. From Reem Acra and Elie Saab to Zuhair Murad, we’ve seen runway after runway featuring bridal capes rather than veils, a dramatic alternative to the traditional standard.

Nude Hues

Gone are the days when wedding dresses used to come in either a white or an ivory. In fact blush, fleshy and nude tones have become one of the most popular wedding trends. At this season’s Bridal Fashion Week, Vera Wang collection debuted several brand-new options we’d want to slip on for our own wedding, like the nude ball gown with pure white lace embellishments. Other designers, such as Reem Acra, also showcased gowns in nude fabrics, paired with metallic gold embellishment and shimmering detailed beading for an extra touch of glamour.

In Full Bloom

Gowns featuring elaborate floral appliques, from large accent flowers to exquisite petal detailing and multicolored bold blooms took the center stage, shown by the designers such as Ines Di Santo, Monique L’Hullier and Pronovias.

Deep necklines have been a hot trend in wedding gowns for quite some time and this season is no different. Berta, known for her avant-garde design style that always tests the barriers and boundaries, has incorporated see lots of uber-sexy plunging necklines for the sensuous and daring bride. Dramatically dipping décolletage is very popular among brides, as it elongates the torso and looks perfect on petite girls with smaller bust.
