We always think of the balloons as colorful and cheerful, but they can actually be very elegant as well. Stay away from traditional 12-inch balloons for and stick to the oversize, 36-inch latex version. Color are also be important; neutrals like clear or white will still feel modern and sophisticated. Mylar or foil balloons have been gaining in popularity over the last number of years and are available in a variety of shapes and sizes including gold hearts, silver stars and many more. Another good choice for eye-catching décor are the giant three-foot balloons that can be accessorized with tassels, ribbon, greenery, flowers, confetti and more. For an extra touch they can be elaborated by florals and calligraphy accents.
Balloon Decorations for the Reception
Balloons are quickly becoming the must-have decoration at weddings, for their versatility and their insta-worthiness. Whether it’s tying “Mr” and “Mrs” balloons to the bride and groom’s chairs, or a display of giant round balloons with tassel tails, balloons help bring to life the couples’ vision of their big day.

One of the most common types of balloon decorations used for any type of event is the balloon arch. You’ve seen it everywhere, from birthday parties to pep rallies and office parties, but weddings? There are the way to create beautiful arches from balloons that are very elegant and unique. Mix balloons with flowers or greenery to create a beautiful decorative accent for your venue to shine the spotlight on your guests as they arrive, or as a centerpiece to highlight your dessert table at your wedding.
Balloon Centerpieces
If you have a venue with really tall ceiling you can use balloons to create interesting floating centerpieces for the tables. In combination with flowers, greenery, confetti or garlands, you can create gorgeous table decorations that are both elegant and fun.

The head table is often the focal point of your reception. Make it memorable by decorating it with balloons. Balloon arch is a thing that many couples go for, but you can also highlight the focal point of wedding reception with majestic balloon columns on either side of the head table. A popular design is the combination of plain balloons in ivory, gold or any color that goes with your theme, supplemented with tulle and silk garlands, and crowned with a giant clear balloon with print, or stuffed with confetti or loads of smaller balloons.

Balloon Backdrop and Photo Props
We love the idea of floating balloons at different heights to create a unique ceremony backdrop. If you don’t want to bother with helium, tape big balloons to a wall for a pretty easy and cost-effective photo booth backdrop idea. To keep it from overwhelming guests, stick to a singular palette, but feel free to mix up the balloon sizes.

Balloons make adorable and inexpensive props for wedding photos. Or favorites are the huge round ones that look so romantic and whimsical in the photos. We just can’t get over how amazing the tasseled balloons look at these wedding photos. You can also gather all your guests for a balloon release. How gorgeous that photo would look as an abundance of balloons sail together to the skies after your ceremony!

Balloon Drop
This idea only works for certain venues, but when it does work it is an epic highlight of the party. Who needs confetti if you can have a balloon drop? Just imagine the photos and everyone’s faces! However, you will need a special rig for this to go perfectly, so in this case we recommend hiring a company, rather than trying to DIY. If you think you can make it yourself, you will need lots of balloons (hundreds) and some kind of net to hold them up there until it’s time to drop. Instead of a net you can use tulle, just figure out a quick release and a ripcord of some sort for a friend or family member to pull at midnight. You can even look online for balloon drop kits, as they are a cost effective alternative to hiring a décor specialist.
We know all these ideas inspired you to think about incorporating balloons in your wedding, and we say – go for it! Balloon decorations, can add style, color and flair to your wedding. There are thousands of ways to incorporate balloons into your ceremony or reception. Just remember, keep them elegant.
